The Race to Feed Chicago

Over 16 million children in the U.S. are at risk of hunger. While school lunch programs may offer nutrition during the week, many children leave school without the hope of additional food that evening or worse - for an entire weekend. Nutrition is vital to health, development, and the ability to focus in school. Blessings in a Backpack is a 501 C (3) non-profit organization currently feeding over 89,000 children in nearly 1100 schools in 47 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. $100 feeds one child on the weekends for one 38-week school year through the Blessings in a Backpack program.

The Chicago Associates Board recently organized a fundraiser and competition to pack 1,800 backpacks of food for local children. Get It Made was a sponsor of The Race To Feed Chicago event, and although our team didn't win the race, we left with a sense of accomplishment, bellies full of BBQ and some new friends.

Blessings in a Backpack organizes the resources needed in a community to feed elementary school children that would otherwise go hungry every weekend, and we were proud to sponsor this wonderful cause in our Chicago community.

We are also giving 10% of proceeds from these Legs for Change leggings to Blessings in a Backpack, grab a pair for yourself or your little ones to help take steps in end hunger among school children in your community!
